From a user/site visitor standpoint...I would definitely say .com if you can get it.

From a SEO perspective I have not noticed any difference. Like people have mentioned, using anything other than .com will require additional effort to brand the suffix along with the actual name since most people will assume it's .com.

If .com is available, you must tie it up even if you plan to use .net or .org or anything else. Plus, generally, .com is the cheapest to register.

It doesn’t matter from that perspective whether you go with .com or .net. The choice of which you go with should be “organic” from a marketing standpoint to your business itself (but not an SEO standpoint). In general I think, you should choose a .com, unless that is, your organization because of what it does might seem “cooler/hipper” with a “.net” label. So imagine if you had a new news site for younger folks called “youngvibes.” If so, then “youngvibes.net” might look a little better (cooler) than “youngvibes.com” (per se) to users. So, it shouldn’t be about SEO, because as others have said, that doesn’t matter for those two, it should be about marketing.

Heavens! Domain names are cheap enough - buy them both! Then either forward the .net to the .com site or use the .net domain for networking with your clients and the .com for commercial/ sales content for sales promotion and advertising to the general public.

I'd go with .com when you can and .net is usually my second choice. Ultimately, it probably does not matter much in terms of SEO in the long run.

There is no difference from an seo standpoint with either .com or .net.

In my experience, there’s only one hard and fast rule of domain extension selection – whenever possible, go with the .com extension of your exact target keyword, as these domains do seem to receive the biggest natural SEO bump in rankings. Basically, new sites on .com domains usually get ranked faster than domains with other extensions and they tend to rank better over time.

From my experience the suffix of your website has no real impact in SEO. The main aspects of a website that search engines like google look at when determining ranking order are, does the site appear to have relevant content to the query searched and are users looking and staying on the website.
