Default Is There Any Way To Get Natural Links From Gov Sites

I fear there is no genuine way of getting links from gov sites. What most of us to do is to find out a gov sites which has not been moderated properly and then start posting in that blog or forum. I want to know whether there is any genuine way of getting links naturally from gov sites?

No I don't but I'll keep an eye on this thread incase someone does. The only way I know how it works in NZ is that you can post a petition to your govt. which gives you a link or become a trainer and lead seminars.

Do you think that you can get visitors from gov sites? I think it isn't likely. When I go to gov sites, I just read the info and I have no desire to click any signatures or links even in the forum. I don't know why.

In the USA, it's tough to get links from the Federal government but we've had luck getting them from State sites.

First step is to register your business with the State you have your business license with, you can't be linked to unless you are a registered vendor with the State.

Go through the State site carefully, take note of how they link, where they're linking to and what their rules are. Most businesses fail at link building because they don't read the guidelines/rules of the sites they're submitting to.

Your mistake here is believing that you get links from sites its people that link through to sites not the sites themselves.

If the relationship is in place with a local council then you may be able to ask them to link through to you.

If you've seen your competitors linking to gov sites, then maybe you can also email those gov sites and suggest your site for inclusion. try to follow up your email with phone calls..

actually linking to gov sites are really hard unless you know the webmaster of those sites.

Thanks for your valuable feedback. I have tried a lot to get links from gov sites naturally but got partial success. But while searching I bumped on this BLOG of NASA : http://blogs.nasa.gov/cm/blog/FIRST%...059585953.html

just check what spammers have done here. Check out the attachment for more information and tell me what you all feel.

That page you posted from NASA is frightening. Those links there will now be worth very little to the people who posted them as the page has been spammed so much. Google takes note of such things.

Also, to the person who said what's the point in getting a link on a .gov page as who clicks it anyway - the idea is not to get people *clicking* it, it's to increase your search engine ranking within Google, because Google rates those links much higher than normal!!

The search engine representatives from Google have been clear on this subject several times, the .gov and .edu TLD's are rated no higher nor given any more weight than a dot com or dot net.

The strength of a .gov and .edu page is derived the same way, by the content, inbound links and age of the page. Here is what Matt Cutts said about this:

Quote:
Matt Cutts: Typically, our policy is: a link is a link, is a link; wherever that link's worth is, that is the worth that we give it. Some people ask about links from DMOZ, links from .edu or links from .gov, and they say: "Isn't there some sort of boost? Isn't a link better if it comes from a .edu?" The short answer is: no, it is not. It is just .edu links tend to have higher PageRank, because more people link to .edu's or .gov's.
