One of the most common SEO mistakes I frequently see committed by rookies is using keyword-based domain, hoping it will get the website rank easier while on the other hand sacrificing their brand identity.

There are a lot of websites and e-commerce have great positions on Google without using such tactic, so I think using keyword-based domains is really not necessary, not to mention most of your competitors will also use this tactic and then make you look the same like them.

One of the most common mistakes that I see is regarding links. Rookies don't tend to know the quality of a link--and will get links to a website that will end up hurting a website in the long run. For example, someone may get a bunch of social bookmarking links, thinking that they will help.
