Default A Really Basic Question

Embarrassingly simple question about in-bound link keywords. If I have a fistfull of links on the keywords "good presentation skills training" and another on, say, "effective presentation skills training" do they both/either count towards simply "presentation skills training" or am I diluting the effect on the latter by having a variety?

I think what you've done is fantastic. You are inherently optimizing for "presentation skills training" in both your anchor text phrases and I don't think you should worry about diluting their impact. Adding modifiers you think your audience would use in a search is a perfectly acceptable, reasonable and even recommended practice.

You shouldn't be embarrassed to ask such a question. You should be proud of getting some solid anchor text in your backlinks

Not only that, but they also count toward "presentation skills", "effective presentation skills", "good presentation skills", and (to a lesser degree) toward things like "good presentation training" and "effective presentation training".

Good job!

Yes, I would definitely say that they both "count" for presentation skills training. I would go one further and say that they also count for:
presentation
skills
training

And a lot of other phrases that might include the words presentation, stills, and training (the long tail of search).

It does not matter in both of keywords. It is depends on searches. I go with both keywords

The bigger question is; does your landing page have the on-page factors to match the inbound links?

According to me you can go for both, it will help "presentation skills training" keyword to come up in ranking easily.

according to me yes it should actually rank for that keyword.
But as Google is the biggest puzzle i have seen sometimes it count sometime it doesn't so can't say anything surely.

Well that's true that you have acted smartly using it now try to optimize your content with that keyword also and hope Google counts this.

Using both keywords boosts your SEO, but that still depends on Google. The way they do things is still subject to much debate, a black box so to speak.

If you can corner both then it would be much better for you.
