Default Banner Ads PPC Or CPM?

When banner ads are displayed on most websites (ecommerce sites, internet forums, free email inboxes, etc.), are advertisers charged per click, or per impression (CPM)? What's the norm?

I guess it all depends on what they are looking for. I would make sure that you do not get into anything that is pay per view. There is no way to get an accurate amount of the times that your banner is seen and you would rather get the traffic to your site. The other thing that I would follow is to make sure that you don't have a high bounce rate from the site in question. If you start seeing that they are bouncing then you need to move to another site. No reason to pay just for a click, make sure you are getting the biggest bang for your buck.

With google ads you pay for clicks... your ad may appear a hundred times in the right hand side of the search results, for only when a user clicks, does the advertiser pays

It all depends on the price. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages. Pay per click is usually more manageble and targeted.
