Soap-In
have you seen "Adword Analyzer" I find this tool very helpful in a number of ways.
# of searches on G & Ovt for keyword
# of websites related to keyword
a ratio for # 1& 2 ( the lower the better)
# of adds for keyword on Google and Overture, remember G puts 8 adds on 1st page where Ovt can get up to 40.

Formula for writing adds:
try to incorporate keyword in the title ( G will place in BOLD)
always offer a feature, benifit and call to action

good luck

Angela, watch your CTR carefully as 'free' usually brings many clicks but no conversions.

Consider investing in the Google AdWords Handbook by Andrew Goodman. It sells for $69 and is a great learning guide.

Thanks for the advice! I will try the 'Adword Analyser', haven't used it before.
I have heard of the Adwords book before, will have a look for it. I plan to get some sales to my site eventually so I'll keep trying .
