@Jim Parcey: I agree! That's a very wide open question we've been asked.
The way I see it, these are the "Three C's" of site optimization:
- Code - presents no impediments to any site visitors, including humans and search engine spiders.
- Content - well-written, grammatical, engaging, useful, unique, compelling, persuasive. Long enough to impart the necessary information, without unnecessarily rambling on.
- Citations - earned editorial links placed by other webmasters on your behalf on their reputable, high-quality sites. Also potentially helpful: unlinked mentions (by name) of your company, product or service on other reputable websites.
