Default What Is LSI? Why Is It IMPORTANT If You Are Using SEO?

I am going to back up my little argument with some of you within the thread 'SEO - Is it pointless?'

So what is LSI?

Look for some time now SEO writers have been suffering, it is a story that is across the board, now just because some of you may have got lucky with a few pages, many of you will struggle to keep your place.

SEO is not working for many because of the CONSTANT restraints by Google... oh you might get by in Yahoo! but you may hit snags in Google.

What is LSI? It's a legitimate technique, but not one that's used by any major search engine.

Industry experts have been debunking the LSI Myth since at least 2007.

Interesting stuff to know, but doesn't have any real relevance for SEO. Oh, and Yahoo has been displaying Bing results for awhile now and has ceased to be an independent search engine.

I got some information regarding LSI from some websites I think which is enough you to know about LSI.

LSI is a newer mathematical way to search through a large group of documents and find those with similar content. It is based on a mathematical algorithm that removes all non-content words and then compares the remaining content to other documents. Unlike SEO, the larger the database the better LSI technology works.

LSI stands for Latent Semantic Indexing. It is an algorithm for calculating how similar two or more web pages are.How Does LSI Work
LSI analyzes keyword distribution over a set of documents. It ignores unimportant parts of speech such as prepositions and filler words. The result is a database of content used to compare documents.Who Uses LSI
Google acquired the company Applied Symantec in 2002. This acquisition gave Google access to LSI technology. What are the Applications of LSI
LSI is a fast way of searching a large collection of documents for similar content. For example, term papers can be compared to others to check for cheating. How do SEO and LSI Differ
SEO looks directly for keywords in a given document and is better for smaller collections. LSI looks for similar content based on a mathematical formula and is well suited for large databases.

LSI is nothing but Latent Semantic Indexing. LSI looks for synonyms related to the title of your page.

Finding LSI Keywords might have it's own merits, but I've found the principle behind it always stupid for many reasons.

First, it's not Google who defines what LSI and relevant keywords are, it's exactly the other way around. Content/People define what is relevant and it's Google's job to adopt to this with their search algorithm and to recognize what is actually relevant to a certain subject.
