Magento is the best choice out there. I use it on 2 eccommerce sites with great results.

Well... I prefer CMS that is SEO friendly, or maybe I modified wordpress and use it as e-commerce site.

I think a shopping cart would be more suitable for your purpose and I would recommend zen-cart, a really powerful and secured open source script.

I use StoreFront.net It integrates with Quickbooks and if you are a complete newbie they set it up for you.

Since you are looking to use it for e-commerce, then why not acquire shopping cart software?
Personally, I use actinic for my clients - not least because it has an excellent reputation for delivering 'shop systems' that are well-loved by the search engines. There are a great many e-commerce systems out there that are really 'clever' but search engines find them a nightmare - hence good rankings are almost impossible.
