I've had the best luck Tuesday through Thursday between 10AM and noon. Depends of course who you are targeting. We are a b2b company. I've heard consumers are more likely to pay attention over the weekend.

Best day to send a newsletter?
Nobody knows. It depends of content, target audience and more. I read most newsletters I receive on week-end, because I don't go out that days.

Best time to send?
The same delicat problem. If your subscribers cover all world when is night in America is middle of day in Australia.

Test and see, this is the best way to find an answer.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best days.If you send out a newsletter on Friday, it will not be read over the weekend. If you send on Monday, people have lots of other things on their minds. In the middle of the week is best.

I have written an ecourse in email marketing, and I send it out every 3 days automatically.

I'm not sure there is a universal "best" day/time. For your particular situation, it might help to see when you get the most activity on your site - visits, forum posts - and try to send out the emails in that timeframe. It also probably depends on who you're trying to reach, since new signups might be more fickle about when/what they read.

I like Tuesdays too. That day is also one of the top ppc days in my opinion.

After several months of answering this post, I can say the best day is Thursday. However, Tuesday and Wednesday continue being good days too.

Default Rules and exceptions to the best day

I too have heard and experienced that Tuesdays are best followed by Thursdays. But I was sent an email at 4AM on New Years Day by none other than Dan Kennedy, the guru's guru of marketing.

I have to assume that he does very little of his marketing by chance. Things are well thought out. But as I look back over recent emails I've received from him, I received an email on Christmas day (by the way, entitled, "The Secret to direct mail success") and Thanksgiving (is this a pattern?). His emails come regularly on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. And these are B to B emails.

So go figure!
