Default Direct Mail Advertising- Email Is Not Like Postal Mail

This is a great article on regulations of email marketing.

"you are new to Internet marketing, you might equate direct email to direct postal mail. The concepts are very similar; in both you broadcast a standard message to a large number of individuals in hopes of receiving positive responses. To the uninitiated, it is logical to assume you can approach the two in the same way. It seems like the only difference is the means of communication. If you are thinking this way, STOP! STOP! STOP!"

Direct Mail(offline) and Email (online) mode of marketing. For emails, we need internet and for a direct mail we required only postal address.

Quite interesting. You are also more likely to get a higher return by sending to recipients who signed up for your e/mailing list.

Nice info Linda! mattlilly, you get a good response of your mail if you send the emails to recipients in a effective way.

Something else to keep in mind is that treating email as if it were postal is plain bad business.

A mistake here can destroys your business brand. It can get your company's domain blacklisted with ISP's. It can land you a hefty fine from regulators, if anyone pursues the matter against you.

So, a better alternative, whenever unsure, would be to use postal for prospecting with strangers while email for dealing with contacts who already know you and have a relationship with you.

Cheers,
