Default How To Meet Business Owners

I'm a co-founder of a website that is geared towards small business owners with employees. Up until now, all of our customers have found us through either Internet Search or Links from other websites. In the new year, we are going to be visiting businesses to try and ramp up the number of businesses using the site. We both have full time other jobs so we would be visiting businesses after work or on weekends, which is most likely the time the owners and decision makers would be going home.

My question is what are some tactics people have used to get in touch with business owners when visiting a business in person?

Have a brochure to give them and get their business card. Ask them if it's all right to put them on your list to send them your newsletter. The money is in the list!

My suggestion might be that you offer some kind of free analysis via a letter to which they can respond and then you set up an appointment late in the day.
You need only meet the decision maker for a minute to get his authority signature for the analysis and then deliver top notch service to win their confidence.

If you can demonstrate an ethical tax saving or cash flow improvement with some simple approach you may easily gain confidence and have a client.

My suggestion would be to hunt for their social media profiles and keep an eye on them for a week. This will be enough to help you learn about what they do, their interests, and any other relevant things. Once you have the idea on how to be in a conversation with them through their social media profiles, get their attention by responding to any of their updates. Be creative as well as be patient, you might not get instant results. But once you learned the ways; it would be easier for you to punch in your main intentions.
