Yes, there seems to be an update around that time.

My site went from 10th to 17th in search rankings during that time.

I don't know why they will not make an official statement about it.

PS: I don't know what kind of an update is that becuase they seem to have penalized "search console"; I search for it on Google and I cant find it in top rankings anymore, lol.

If you Follow these guideline then google updates can not make any bad effect on your website and keyword ranking:
1. Never Use Low quality and Copied Content for your website
2. Never do any type of Black hat SEO
3. Always make back links for Higher domain authority and good moz trust websites
4. And Always keep in your mind about desktop and mobile searches both (Specially Mobile)

Default My SEO said it is a normal change

I asked my SEO about this for our home inspection website. We primarily focus in this office around the Dallas Fort Worth area and we've seen some crazy jumps (up and down) for our ranking.

I feel like I ask him about this every month but he said all is good. He tells me to look at Moz (not sure what that is) to see if anything big is announced. I think I'll just let him handle it for me though.

We've got houses that need inspecting!

I also seen this news on SEL, however didn't notice any significance changes in rankings. Maybe, it's not rolling with that impact. lol

Till now I have not seen any change in ranking for any of our websites. Besides that there is no change in traffic graph as well.

My keywords remain in the same position, but when I check my competitors there are few fluctuation. Day to day, Google is introducing a new update that made everyone to think and the techniques used for generating back links are as usual no change, but need to follow safe path where no risk.
