Smile The Art of the Start - Guy Kawasaki

Check out "The Art of the Start" by Guy Kawasaki.

For anyone who doesn't know, Kawasaki is a celebrity venture capitalist.

But don't let that throw you off. His book has lots of practical, down-to-earth advice for starting a business. Even for those with no intention of going after venture money.

I recently did a review of the book on my website:

For anyone:

The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It

For any type of manufacturing startup (others can learn from this as well):

The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement

My favorite reading is business biographies. So much can be learned from these. A favorite:

Pizza Tiger - Tom Monaghan's story of how he started Domino's Pizza. Excellent!

A great way to find books to read is by going to Amazon.com and browsing the business books. Look for books that have high customer review ratings based on a large number of reviews. If 50 out of 50 reviewers gave a book a high rating, it's often a safe bet. Then you can try purchasing the book used from one of the Amazon vendors or on eBay.
