You will need to use a blog if you want the search engine to index your site faster. Install a wordpress, get an expert to do custom coding for you, no one will realize it's actually using a CMS platform.

I agree with capital typing. Blogs are not only used for increasing traffic, but also very easy to update with new things added in your business. I recommend word press for blog creation because it is easy and time saving.

One thing you guys seem to dancing around here is that your blog needs to be interesting! Company blogs drolling on about new features and the latest advancements are pretty boring. Try reposting interesting articles you may find, your personal opinion on a product or service, or heck even something completely random. Don't get too sidetracked though so that if your blog does get a large user base you'll be able to direct some attention towards your company.

it increases your traffic, helps you promote your website (without the stiff-corporate feel), brand awareness and cheap PR support. :-)

blogs are basically for 2 reasons:
1) To drive traffic to your web site
2) To make your web site more popular

If you see these two points they have a very clear combinations. When you drive in more traffic to your web site, you get your web sites more popular. In that case your business will improve more!

I think creating a blog depends on you. If you just want to have one then do it. If your company does have an occasional press release then make a portion of your site for the PR instead.
