As long as these tools are used to manually interact with potential customers, they're good. People often forget the importance of establishing real connections, that is to actually discuss with your clients instead of sending them regular automated emails or messages. With social media, this type of contact is of striking importance. Social media marketing is functional as long as it is used within the limits of direct marketing.

Default Direct is the best.

Lloyd I couldn't agree more. It is important to personalize your messages to your customers via the social media networks. Too often I see people that try to automate their efforts on the sites that you mention and they soon wonder why they are not seeing increases in their business. People like to know that there is really somebody there to hear what they have to say.

Very well put. Marketing of any kind is first and foremost about establishing genuine human connection. All the social media and other marketing tools are meant to aid in that effort not replace the human touch.

Default Human Connection

It's not only important to be personable online, if your business has an actual location its key to create a relationship with customers that doesn't revolve around hard selling merchandise.

Agreed. Chances are your business is a success because of you and your personality. Remember, customers must opt in to follow you over social media sites... that means they want to hear from YOU and not some formal, dry, overly written post. You have to talk to them... not "at" them.

I think regardless of what platform you are on you need to stand yourself out and be noticed. Add that personal touch. You can be successful on one or all of the sites.

Is there any new social media tools, which can take on these mighty ones?
