Default Online Shoe Store. No Idea Where To Start.

Hey there, my names Kevin, and I'm totally new to all of this. So I know what I want to start, I'm just not sure how to begin. So I'm wanting to start an online shoe store, somewhat similar to eastbay.com

The reason I'm wanting to start this is because my g/f's (of 3 years) dad has been selling shoes for the longest time, but in an outdoor market. He has taught me a lot, but me having the knowledge of webdesign, would like to start my own business.

I already have a wholesaler available through him, so that will not be a problem. My problem is finding out where exactly to start, what webdesign software to use, setting up credit card payments, paypal, etc.

One last thing. If someone could refer me to a really great free webdesign program that I can use until I can get something better, that would be great. I do not have tons of money to spend right now and software can be very expensive. Thanks for any and all help, it will be very appreciated. Like I said, I am new to all this. =)

I would suggest, www.weebly.com. If you buy the upgrades on weebly you can easily set up a webstore. They also have a ton of webstore and fashion store templates so your pretty set in terms of design. They also have an easy feature to set up a ecommerce shop. However, in order to gain access to that feature you have to buy a 30$ month subscription.

I would suggest that once you find your free software read up as much as you can on SEO and SEM. There's no use having a nice looking site if you don't get any traffic. I also find that Paypal as a payment option works out cheaper than a lot of the banks and they don't lock you in to long term contracts.

Good luck with the shoes.

What exactly is SEO & SEM? I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with this or the terms.
