Default Recommendation For Accounting Software

Hey business owner,

I am looking for a good accounting software. Beside quickbook "which is not quick and easy to use", what else is good?

There's an animal out there called Postbooks which is supposed to do what Quickbooks does. One difference is that it's open source. I've been chomping at the bit to give this a whirl with someone, and am more than willing to help you set it up in order to get a real-life story out of it (for my website)

If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty (or maybe not -- this thing might just be awesome right out of the gate) I'd love to give you a hand. After hearing of so many QB debacles, I think the world at large would benefit from hearing more about this app.

Quickbooks is very comprehensive and attempts to cover every possible type of business, so it does much more than most small businesses need or want.

I have had a hard time finding anything that worked better for me--and I try, regularly. Peachtree is the most comparable, but no less complex.

There are several on-line accounting programs that are fairly simple, I've tried Kashoo, Wave, and Outright. They all have pros and cons. Some are free if you have limited data or put up with ads. Of course you would have to be comfortable with your data "in the cloud". Save your own backups.

You might be able to find a lesser known program that is specific to your industry that will be a better fit. It takes some googling, many pages worth.

In attempting to help my friend with her taco shop, I got so frustrated with the lack of a good match to her needs, that I have started work on a restaurant-specific accounting program for small operators like her. It will be web-based, and should be ready for testing in about a month.

How are you making out? I'm itching to know, but didn't want to creep anyone out with an all caps reply just seconds after I heard there was a response here... I've calmed down now.

Hi,

I'd suggest you to have a try with Handdy Jotbook, it seems to be pretty good in managing your accounts/books in simplest forms (without any jargons). Also that, there are multiple options to handle the accounts, compiled with the features of Quickbooks and many other softwares.

I have been using Jotbook to manage my business accounts. I feel that you can check out this app, it'd do so in a better way.

Cheak out PeachTree.... I've used Peachtree and thought it was decent, although as someone pointed out, they have a charge for the helpline.
