Default 10 Things To Pay Attention When Email To Your List

When you started to have your own list, no matter that was from opt-in or your customer list, and you intend to email promotion newsletter or catalogs to your list, there is something you need to be avoid or pay attention to.

1. Using a generic subject line
For example, your latest email campaign is the November Newsletter. And you know that itís great and special. You should consider to put some effort on your subject line to tease your special offer or newsletter.

Also, try to include your brand in the subject line. Itíll let people instantly recognize your email at a glance and can help with inbox sorting down the road. Here are a few examples to get you started:

2. Keep your email easy on the eyes
Keep your newsletter or email easy on the eyes with simple, intentional fonts, color and formatting. Avoid switching fonts, color or size every few lines, and choose your colors and fonts with an eye for readability.

Beside that, a well formatted newsletter will catch your readersí attention and make it easy to keep reading.

3. Sending email to people who didnít ask for it
A great, a successful campaign starts with a permission-based list. Only email to people who have asked to receive your updates, bought something from you in the last 18 months or are directly affiliated with your organization.

If itís a rented list, a purchased list or a list of people whoíve never heard of you, avoid it.

4. Using an invalid reply-to address
Since direct email marketing is all about keeping in touch with your list members or customers, so giving your recipients a way to continue the conversation is a must.

If the email address youíre currently using doesnít exist, please ask your email administrator to create it, or change it to an address that does exist and is monitored by someone who can manage the replies.

5. Take notice of bounced emails
Bounced emails, also known as undelivered messages, are those messages that unsuccessfully received by recipient. There are bounces that occur because the busy of server, because of inbox of recipient is full, but there are those bounces occur because of invalid email address or deleted email address.

Take notice of those bounced emails, putting markings in those bounced email. This can help you recognize which email address are valid or invalid.

6.Provide an unsubscribe feature in your site and emails
When someone in your list files request to be unsubscribed, always take that request seriously. If you donít take them off your list and keep sending them your e-mails, you are now sending them spam mail!

When you are reported as a spammer, you and your business can get into a lot of trouble. You can be reported to the authorities and maybe blacklisted by many internet service providers. You will lose a lot of subscribers this way and many more in potential subscribers.

7. Sending a big image
Servers are more likely to filter emails with large images, and recipients may move on to other things before your image fully loads. Some email programs, like Gmail and Outlook block images by default, meaning that a percentage of your recipients might see the original email you designed as a big, broken image.

So, meaning that sending a email with big image is risky. If you need to show customer or your members some image, kindly ask an HTML designer to recode the single big image into smaller and sliced image.

8. Personalized the emails
Try to imagine, how your readers think when they feel like theyíre just one email address in a giant list. Use your email campaign to connect personally with your readers.

But donít just stop with a personal first name greeting, look for other ways to extend a personal touch, whether itís through sending targeted messages based on your readersí zip codes or interests or keeping a friendly, personal tone as you write your content.

9.Writing emails like a novel
By novel, it mean a really long email. When you send a long email, a typical subscriber ó like me, sometimes ó probably wonít sit and go through lots of text to find the content that interests them. Instead, they might just delete your email or file your email in the ďto read laterĒ folder, and mostly they wonít ďread laterĒ.

Rewrite your articles into a shorter email, then use link to bring your subscribers to read more or additional content hosted on your website. In addition to shortening the length of your emails, you also get the benefit of seeing which articles people click through to read.

10. No Call to Action (CTA)
Thereís no point in doing all the work of creating and sending out a newsletter if there isnít anything you want your readers to act on. Set goals for every newsletter and make sure your market feels the urgency of your call to action. The CTA should be prominent and easy to follow so that you get optimum conversion.
