Default Dose Yahoo Change Some Rules Of Optimization?

Anybody found the number backlink showed in the results by siteexplorer.search.yahoo become less? The day before yester,my site has 16 backlinks, but when i checked it again yesterday,it became 4.I searched the answer by google. It is said we can not get the backlinks only by some certain site, forum ect.Because our backlinks will be effected if that site gets some problems.

How do you think of it?

Yahoo site explorer isn't a really good basis for how many backlinks you have to a site anymore. They've pretty much let the thing go.

Majestic SEO is probably the more accurate bet.

From what I know, Yahoo is trying to step away from the Search Engine.

Google base their search results and backlinks on the Google searches and per clicks itself.

When it comes to Yahoo, they may have been doing the same thing but of course, they base all the results on their own search algorithms.

There's an official announcement at Yahoo search blog:

Quote:
With the completion of algorithmic transition to Bing, Yahoo! Search has merged Site Explorer into Bing Webmaster Tools. Webmasters should now be using the Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure that their websites continue to get high quality organic search traffic from Bing and Yahoo!. Site Explorer services will not be available from November 21, 2011.

If you want to check backlinks to your own website there's nothing better than Google Webmaster Tools. For spying on competitors, use seo spyglass - it's far more cost-effective than majestic.

In my experience it seems site explorer from Yahoo is not entirely reliable and now it's part of Bing webmaster tools anyway. I would recommend buying a SEO software package. I may try out SEO Spyglass as was suggested.

YSE has been shut down i believe being taken over by Bing Webmaster tools (never used it).
Majestic SEO is pretty popular however there are a number of other tools available. Depending on how i'm feeling and the site I'm researching determines which tools i use for backlink/keyword checking.

i use

Majestic SEO

SpyGlass
