Forums are there to give and receive advice, not for link building. You need links from a diverse range of sites, not just forums. And if you focus on dofollow, Google will punish you because more than 90% of sites are set to nofollow so you will appear unnatural

If the right ones within your niche are chosen, forums should be used to informally network and learn from others. Any SEO or traffic benefit should be considered secondarily.

In agreement with others, post on forums to newtwork, ask questions and help others. Let the backlinks fall where they may.

Here is to anyone reading this thread, a true example of posting irrelevant comments just to increase post count and later post a signature link:

@ketul123 - how is your post valuable for the thread? You've written nothing new or interesting. You need that one last post to your signature link, don't you? sssssss

I wouldn't also say CoolHandCol is adding anything as well.

And these posts were removed, so "post-count increasers" beware!

Which leads to the idea that you won't be able to get SEO benefit from forums this easy. Moderated forums I mean.

If a forum is moderated it would return better SEO benefit because it won't be full of useless posts with links. Which is why you better take your time, contribute, and get your sought "reward".

Why do you think the easy forums would be good for your SEO? There will be hundreds of other spammers with poor grammar from India, and why do you think Google is blind?

Hope this is a good lessons to forum spammers!

I don't think do follow or no follow matters that much, at the end of the day, users are more important than search engines.

you could still always get traffic from forums without backlinks. And if you target properly, those traffic could be a whole lot better.
