Er, they probably work better if you correctly spell the words in the sig (see your sig modazzle)...

Am I making sense?

Thanks for the help...
Anchor text in your links would surely give value, but I don't think words before and after of your anchor text link would give benefit to your rankings.

If you consider the text on the page content, and it can be crawled, then content in and around anchor text links will count toward word association and help with rank. Keywords don't have to be hyperlinked to have value, just the ability to be crawled.

But he was asking about anchor text in a forums sig not an anchor text in a page content.

Right. As long as the page can be indexed, verbiage around an anchor text link can be associated with the anchor.

Link is link even as signature. Are you aware about the "total failure" campaign getting enough webmasters to link whitehouse.gov with anchor text "total failure". Within few weeks anyone searching for "total failure" was finding WhiteHouse site listed first.
So, you signature is very important SEO tool.

Use the keywords you want to show up for in your anchor text. If you want to show up for shoe maker, use those two words in your anchor text.

This sounds like another topic altogether - LSI.
Am i right?

Related Keywords surrounding the anchor text ??
But does the SEs also look at the on page contents?

For example :-
We are talking about SIG files and links here ...and then i have my SIG with "parenting tips" anchor text. Does it matter to the SEs to know that our discussions on this forum has got nothing to do with parenting topics?
