Local SEO is something many businesses neglect or donít know how to implement correctly. Some donít realize its importance, while others make mistakes that end up being counterproductive. Letís learn why local SEO is so important and look at the six things your small business is doing wrong when it comes to this very important SEO factor.

Why Local SEO Matters

According to Moz, on-page signals account for 20% of your siteís local search engine optimization. Link signals, whether social media sharing of your businessí content or links on business directories, have about as much weight as local on page SEO Ė roughly a fifth. Review signals are about 8% of local SEO, but that doesnít mean you should ignore reviews, since they are the deciding factor for many people as to whether to do business with you. Social signals like liking your web page or following your brand make up around 5% of local SEO signals, while behavioral and mobile signals are almost 10%. Personalization, such as your search history, past activity and physical location accounts for 8.5% of local SEO signals. My Business signals are worth nearly 15% of local SEO signals.
