I noticed that once I started using Firefox, the amount of crap that was attaching itself to my computer went down dramatically as well.

Spybot and Ad-Aware worked great for me as well.

You can try to remove adware programs with the Add/Remove function on your control panel. There are several programs that can remove adware and spyware from your computer and some of them are free such as Spybot. Some of the anti-virus programs can also detect and delete adware.

I discovered the real solution was to take an older computer I had lying around and install Linux on it. Now I do all my Internet access from that computer (the one I am on now) and have no further worries over infections. If by some odd chance I did get one (all my data is in the Cloud), I would just reinstall Linux and be back in business in minutes, instead of weeks like the last time that happened to me with Windows.

A simple turnkey business you can own.

1) Identify the source of the software you want to delete.
2) You can add/remove program with the help of control panel
3) Disconnect from the internet
4) Your start page is has been set to an adware site, reset it to a blank site.
5) Reboot your computer.
