Default How Long Are Your Visitors Staying On Your Website?

Here is a question more important than SEO because so many people focus so hard and so long on SEO: have you checked your web stats to determine, on average, how long your visitors stay on your site once land on it?

If you don't know this answer, you should. As a webmaster, I can't tell you how many businesses (1) don't know that answer and more importantly (2) when they found out, how surprised they were to learn it was less than one minute!!

So my point is this: if your visitors are hanging around on your website for less than one minute, then SEO isn't your problem...it's something about your website that isn't *keeping* then there once they land. If you have a short average visitor time, fix that first, then work on your SEO!

I doubt if you have not SEO your websites, how could potential visitors reach your sites.
It might be a big issue but not relate to SEO, IMO.

Thanks,

It depends where they come from. Sometimes they stay 2-3 min sometimes more. Sometimes they leave at once (maybe, they visited it by mistake).

Great topic, Ralph! And you're absolutely right, if people aren't sticking to your site, SEO is not going to fix that.

That's actually a very respectable average. I'm right around 10 minutes for my site. That's actually up from 9 minutes, which was my average about a week ago.

I'm also not finished with my site. It's only 3 weeks old.

Well, i can tell you one thing, it's depend on visitors and your theme. Generally a visitor find any interesting topic in your site then he spend minimum half an hour.

I think it still comes in SEO part. If visitors are not staying more than few minutes means something is lacking somewhere. So still there is scope for SEO. Check out your content, relevancy, quality of all information on the web pages and then again perform optimization on it.

As per my knowledge a single view of web page can be converted into a visit by a quality, relevant and precise content. So I don’t consider it out of SEO reach, to great extend. Please correct me if I am considering something wrong. Thanks!
