Default a tool to determine keywords for local searches

Is there a tool to a tool to determine keyword popularity for local searches. I am aware of Digital Point and all that but what if I want to do local search keyword analysis? Am I out of luck?

For certain business services/ phrases that lend themselves to local searches the keyword tools like overture and word tracker will show the generic industry phrase and underneath it all the longer tail phrases of which many will be various local phrases; For instance I just looked up divorce attorney in overture (with about 18,000 searches). Underneath that there were a slew of searches for divorce attorney california and then every state and big city you can think of.

My business has strong optimization for the generic industry terms and for the relative state and city terms. My experience is typically that the highest traffic I see for a business phrase/geo term is about 5% of the highest rated term without geo phrases. But that is only one example of one business and also based on my sites activity not based on actual traffic on the phrase.

Run the search term(s) you are interested in and see if the long tail phrases turn up a lot of geo phrases.
