Default Business Getting Slow

earlier this year i had tons of work orders to fill. working 50 hour weeks to get them done on time, now i have one last job to fill and there's not really any more coming in, i'm a machinist and my job depends on there being work there for me to do. i was laid off for about a month a while ago and really don't want to go back to that. so my idea was to drive around town to different manufacturing facilities and offer our services. ask them if there's a part that there having made that they don't like something about or something that maybe we could do cheaper. but i have no idea how to go about this. i'm not a salesman and don't really know where to start. who do i ask for when i arrive at the facility, how do i go about my proposal. any help would be appreciated. point me in the right direction, or something to read.

First, you should try to get testimonials from previous customers to build your credibility. Also having a simple website is not expensive and will help also. Read a few books about sales and dealing with people. If you can get the decision makers to like you, your business will grow. There is plenty more, but that will get you headed in the right direction.

It takes skill to find the decision maker, but call the place first trying to find out who you would talk to.

In this day and age people like working with people for 3 reasons, because the KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST you.

One of the major things you have going for you, is that you are NOT a salesmen. You DON'T want to become one either. You have the ability to walk up to someone and speak to them as an expect in your field, and simply offer you services.

If I were you, I would definitely consider a website and at least a business card. Get some examples of your work together for you website.

The big thing is, just be yourself. Get out there and you will get business.

Getting a website is a wonderful idea. You can highlight the different services that you can offer and get testimonials from satisfied clients.
Business cards are an excellent way to market your services as well. Get some professionally printed, be sure to include all the important details like your contact number, website, email address, and the like. Visit events, trade shows, or even high foot traffic places like malls. If you happen to talk to a potential client, hand them two of your business cards and ask them politely if they know anyone they can refer your services to.

Online marketing is the newest way to market anything today. About your question, I think you should send your proposals first at the receptionist and do always contact the person in charge. Typings jobs today can be easily done by any employee so I suggest that you change your line of career.

The first thing that you should do is build your background/credibility. As we all said, build it by generating testimonials from your previous clients. Create a nice trackback. The fact that it will support your service expertise.

Build you image through creating website, make sure you introduce well you company. It's not expensive though. Business cards also.

Then deal with them by showing how your business can help them. Do not stress your superiority. Just make it convincing enough.
