Default Google PageRank Update

Page rank seems to have updated overnight. Nothing startling has happened to my site, but I get the feeling the Goog is getting better at telling what's really popular, especially on blogs.

What do you see happening, folks?

Our blog PR went up to 4 after the update. It used to be 5, then we changed the domain so it dropped to 1 and we are back up to 4. We had few more pages on our site that went up 4 as well.

Default Mine went from nothing to 3!

There must be somethings happening now.
I've got 2 sites and the strangest things happened. One went from nothing to 3!
The other one increased by 1 point

I am usually happy about this...but somehow got the feeling that its kinda strange. One of my keyword disappeared overnight from being top.

This is weird.

I could care less about my page rank. I do care about it with the sites whom are linking to me though. Does PR mean anything in the SERP's? Not directly, but if you get a link or two from a high PR site then you jump in the SERP's by leaps and bounds.

I'm not worried about PR at all - there's too much else that relates to getting bookings. PR isn't even an important bit of the SEO mix as far as I can tell and even if it was, there's still hit rates, visitor numbers, conversion rates an the like to worry about.....

While ever we're still high enough up the rankings and we're still getting enough hits to generate enough enquiries to generate enough work, PR is the least of our worries, so to speak.

I still don't look at PR in the toolbar anymore. Just stopped cold turkey years ago. Hope mine aren't PR 0

My rankings and traffic have been steady recently and if anything an uptick over the past 3 months. My understanding, although a lot of buzz as mentioned in Karri's link, is this is no different than the past. The actual pagerank has already been factored into the rankings based on what has been updated in the toolbar. Notice everyones toolbar pagerank changed, but not universal ranking changes ... so that means it is already factored in. There was a bit of buzz last time as well, when the toolbar pr seemed to drop a scale down for those selling links. I believe that was the last update of the toolbar pr.

Here is my explanation regarding things along those lines.

Realize that the toolbar pagerank displayed is a 1 to 10 scale. Actual pagerank is a much more precise number calculated based on an algorithm. Since it is an algorithmic equation as you go from each integer the actual distance between each increases. So from 1 to 3 may be equivalent from going to 4 to 5 based on the amount of "work/links" you need to do. As you go from 5 to 6, again the amount it takes increases to achieve each higher level. From 9 to 10 is the largest spread. Hope that helps take some confusion about the differences/distance between each number. It takes more to go from 9 to 10 then it does to go from 1 to 6 probably.

Default Some of my rankings is lowered but traffic went up and more relevant

I noticed that a couple of my keywords were lowered in the SERP.
While i lamented over this fact, the strange thing was that my traffic seems to increased and more relevant longtail phrases are used to land on my site.

I still cannot conclude anything yet but i suspect there could be some updates on using LSI (Latent Semantic) kinda stuffs going on....
But in anycase, i really dun wish to speculate too much as all i can do is to wait for 1 week or so before the whole thing gets settled down..

Do you have an estimated timeline that it takes google to rank its pages?
