Creative nature is the most important virtue of any content writer, adding a bit of presentation and word play will just add more value to the writer and their write-up.

I think you need to pass a sample of your content first.

I would love to have someone who can write well, who can do research, who can present a piece that someone would like to read. The seo thing can come after. I think it's wiser to get someone who knows how to write without really knowing seo. That way you get to have a content that is natural and not too manipulated or too optimized for SEO,

That said, if your key visitors are doctors or scientists, it's better to sound like a scientist than a surfer. ;-) You have to appeal to the visitor and do what adds credibility in their eyes.
The other possible qualification is to be able to write a lot. If you don't like to write, content writing is probably not the best task for you.

I agree with this one "When people write content that sounds like an encyclopedia, it doesn't engage visitors." They will find it boring to read. So it's better that you try to be conversational and put some excitement that they will be insisted to finish reading your content or even browse for more.

Yes, I agree with you. If you don't have your own creativity you can't become a good writer.
