Blogging in wordpress or blogger are good thing to start up your blogging experience.

But as time goes by having your own hosted blogging site *www.example.com* is far more better than sticking those free blogging site.

I think it really depends upon your goals.

If you're building out a long term blog that you intend to use at some point in the future to monetize, then I would suggest you stay away from the free options, and get a simple hosting account and use Wordpress.org.

The cost is minimal - just $5 a month in shared hosting plus the cost of a single domain - but the advantages far outweigh the small investment.

The problem with the free route is that you really don't control your own site and over time, as your user base builds, that can become very limiting to your income potential for the site.

If, however, you're just doing it for fun or hobby and have no intention of ever monetizing it, then the free route is fine. Just keep in mind, many very good businesses "start out" as a hobby. Personally, I would never use the free blogs other than for "feeder" sites to my principal sites, but that's just because I'm more focused on long term flexibility.

It is very important that what is your purpose. For some business blogging you can use blogger and if you can make proper offline or online SEO then it would be great. Many people use blogger and then shifted to individual domain but use same layout; shebytes.com may help to choose the idea. Anyway, I also have seen people to choose wordpress. For micro blogging you can use twitter I guess.

I would recommended WordPress (although I'm biased). Here's the reason why. At the end of the day, your website is your asset. You should own it.

By using blogger and tumblr, you're tied to their systems. With WordPress, you own the content, you own the website, it's yours.

1. Tumblr

3. and Blogger*

(* Blogger removed my blog after a period of time. Rude.)
Can you advertise on a Tumblr.com website?

Is it a good option if I am trying to earn money through Adwords?

Both provide a solid blogging platform but personally i prefer wordpress because it is open source and hence offers fully customization. If a person is coding expert then it is best for his.

Well it depends on your preferences. I like Wordpress because of formality and for business type theme while Blogger is more on customization and a lot of plugins to add.

Earlier this week, Google has actually been shutting down some blogspots in my hobby niche after issuing DMCAs.

Because Google states in its Ts and Cs that they own your blogspot and all of its content, they can do whatever they please with it.

So the minute a company has a complaint - BAM!
either your post gets deleted by Google or in extreme cases your whole blog gets removed.

That isn't good to hear. How can they shut down blogs on other sites?

I understand that they could just refuse to rank them which would mean that no one would find your blog.

In terms of widgets and templates, Wordpress is much better than Blogger. I just prefer the look and feel of a Wordpress blog over Blogger, but that's a personal preference.
