Default Directory Submission

I used to get the following error, when i submit in the directory submission.
"The URL could not be validated. Either the page does not exist or the server could not be contacted. URL already exists in the directory."

But when i remove https from the url, it accepts my submission.

Most of the directory submissions are low quality sites and I would suggest to try the other platforms for maximum exposures.

May you could have submitted with the back slash at the end of the URL. And @jeffscott is right! Directory submission is an older technique and no longer used.

You can use directory submission only when the website has 5+ PR. Example Yahoo and Dmoz directories.

Yeah Johnbolton! Still most of the directory sites are not accepting https (secured version) for submission.

Most of previous SEO techniques are not in use and know as SPAM such as low quality Directory and bulk submission. The best way to get back link is content marketing.

Do not waste your time in free directory submission. They will not accept your site and if they approve it take more than a year.
You can try other activities like your business listing to local business listing sites. Classified ads with full descriptions etc.
