Have you tried some of the social marketing engines like digg, Twitter and, more importantly, YouTube. There are a lot of ways to drive traffic these days on internet including CPA and PPC.

Viral marketing can also generate traffic to your website from a wider audience given that your viral marketing campaign is successful. Spreading the news by word of mouth alone could be very beneficial to your website in gaining valuable traffic.

Im kind of skeptical about search engines ...
I think advertising your products or services through the medium of classifieds may certainly be not a bad idea for sure.

Hey folks,

What do you think about web2.0 sites (hubpages, squidoo, etc.. ). I think those sites are also good resources to generate good traffic.

Squidoo is a great idea for generating traffic...but in all honesty the skepticism of search engines makes no sense. Why limit your exposure in any way at all? If your not on google, then you should be that's all there is too it, you should have at least one page with a keyword that is ranked high enough on google to get traffic. That's the only way to get people to your site without effort. Even PPC campaigns take more effort that simply being listed in a search engine.

Then again even that takes effort if your local area has lots of competitors though. In areas with little competition just putting your town name and what you do as a keyword is almost guaranteed page one ranking.

In my honest opinion, the best way to get highly targeted traffic is through social marketing. Social bookmarking will only work if you have a great story to share.
