Excellent point Jesse.

I think this is a great case of where the 80/20 rule applies. Right now I'm doing 80% of the work for 20% of the pay. Down the road, I hope to be doing 20% of the work for 80% of the pay.

Better yet...one of these days I hope to have a month where I do nothing but keep up with blog posts and still see a nice profit come in.

Who knows. Either way, it's also important to remember that the series wasn't written so that people would emulate everything. People really aren't supposed to take every single step I did. They don't even have to do it in thirty days... It was written to give folks practical advice on how to start a business in their free time when they don't necessarily need to be making a good hourly wage.

Hm, I think it *is* a good idea to track it every once in a while - I know an awful lot of ppl who have started up small businesses and aren't aware of how little they are making for the amount of effort they have put in.

But maybe that's a bigger point about financial tracking overall, something you have demonstrated ably throughout this series, rather than a specific about hourly wage.

Well.. congratulations for getting to day30! I'm all happy to hear you'll be updating weekly and then monthly, and i can't wait to check out the material you've put together in ebook form - hopefully i can print it out and put it into practice someday when i get my *** in gear and my ideas onto paper.

I'll miss looking forward to reading every morning when i come into work... maybe i'll start again from day1 and give it another read through. :P

Thanks for all the work you put in, and all the fun and information i got out of it. Now go get some well-deserved rest!!

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't have said never track it, but certainly keep things in perspective when you're first starting out. The 80/20 rule is a good thing to write on a post-it and stick somewhere visible.

Jenn, what I found most valuable were the ups and downs you communicated almost daily. Now that is typical for running a small business!

Default Congrats On Completion!

Hi Jenn,
Happy to see you made it to the end of the reporting period.
You did a fine job.

I'd like to suggest one last quick income stream for you.
Set up a small area at the top of your ebook for
"Brought To You By
So-And-So.com"
Offer rebranding of your ebook using http://ViralPDF.com
Just put a small text link under that
"Rebrand this ebook"
Charge a small fee for the rebrandable copy and branding tool.
Or make it a download thank you page after a donation if you Can set a thankyou url.

Bob

olebob, I read the site you linked to extensively and am pretty intrigued by the idea. Have you had personal experience (or do you know someone who has) using such a strategy? What were the results?

Bob, I'd love to hear more about this idea, I think I follow you, but I'm not entirely sure that I do.

Care to give us a more thorough explanation?

Default Thanks for sharing

I just finished reading the e-book. I have been struggling (part time) with building various ventures online, so this was a timely read. I can't believe how fast some of your traffic started to happen! A good idea really helps. Anway, I just wanted to drop you a note to say thanks for being so transparent in the article series.

WOW, what a valuable information.

I was searching for ways to promote my Cafepress baby products and found your Articles and eBook. Thanks a lot for sharing, your tips and suggestions are coming in handy to fulfill my quest.

Just wondering what is your revenue from Cafepress at the moment???

I am excited to just sell one product (about 2 weeks ago it is still pending) imagine selling as much as you do.

For those interested in my Baby Products here's my [link removed as per forum rules]

Current revenue varies by month...I don't do much to promote the store now apart from the Lactivist blog. Just don't have the time to... Nonetheless, the store itself makes several hundred dollars a month, split between sales, affiliate sales and referral income.
