Default Using An AutoHitter To Boost Traffic

I tried an autohitter one time, I'm not sure how helpful it was, and I know it uses up bandwidth. BUT it did drive me higher in certain search engines. You might want to research it first, but what it does is you sign up, and it rotates sites on your computer screen, and for every site shown on your screen you earn clicks to your own site. Just an idea, I didn't get any sales from it because it's fake traffic, but it can help in certain situations. The one I used was autohits, you can find them on google.

As always though, nothing beats the real deal.

I don't see how generating fake hits can increase your SE rankings?

Doug, it won't. I believe it is a case of two things happening at the same time that are not correlated. One side effect of fake hits, could be others seeing it and providing it more exposure indirectly - but that doesn't happen with this type of traffic.

Remember, be very careful who you link to. Linking to 'bad neighborhood' sites is more likely to negatively impact your rankings - in particular with google.

Traffic won't help your site to increase in SERP. And also fake traffic is useless better if you can get quality traffic

Consider this for a moment. Suppose there is a term that is searched for 1000 times per month. Most of the searchers click on the very first search result...but 99 percent of them immediately hit the back button. But lets say for the number 2 spot, only maybe 20% of the visitors who search for that term hit the back button immediately.

I think it makes alot of sense for google to track the bounce rates for various websites and factor it into their rankings. If people always bounce from a website, it makes sense that google should lower its rank.

If a website is giving signals that it is not relevant based on used behavior, that site is hurting the user experience and thus hurting google.

So if you have fake traffic that never hits the back button, always chooses your site over other sites...I imagine it could help your SERPs...but I would probably rather spend my time making cool gadgets that would get people to my site who can buy stuff Bots are generally poor

I understand your logic Evan, but I'm with Baselux on this one. I do not think there is a direct link between traffic and rankings like you describe. I think a long time ago it was the original directhit that used user click behavior, but my experience is that g/y/m don't factor in click/back as you describe. I believe partly the reason is it would be very easy for SEOs to manipulate a system like that to their advantage and to the disadvantage of other websites. Google tends to go by the principle that the factor should not be able to easily manipulated by someone else - and that is probably the biggest issue with search engines using traffic patterns as a basis for rankings. I do believe they monitor a sample of click traffic to evaluate results - but on a small sample scale not related directly to rankings.
