Remarketing lets you show ads to people who have visited your website or used your mobile app before. When people leave your website without buying anything, for example, remarketing helps you reconnect with them by showing relevant ads as they browse the web, as they use mobile apps, or as they search on Google.

You should market to both. You might find you can prospect 100 new people on facebook and 3% of them convert. If you can capture a list of previous site visitors and show your ads to previous site visitors previous stats show that more than 3% will convert. By not remeakeritn to your site traffic you are loosing out on potential customers who just needed a little more convincing.

Also, if your product has a long buying cycle i.e customers sometimes take a few weeks to think about a purchase - then remarketing these people for a month after they have visited your site will work to keep them from forgetting the site visit a month ago! ( very easy to do)

Remarketing works especially well when combined with an active inbound campaign. By virtue of catching visitors to your website and remarketing and redirecting them to your inbound page/s you catch all the users to your site.

Which is a long way of saying, if you're going to do remarketing, don't just send them back to your site. They've already been there. Give them some extra value by sending them to a particular landing page or offer.

The best case is actually remarketing to those who didn't convert on your inbound landing page and remarket them to a different offer on your site. As they didn't convert but did visit they have shown interest in your product/service in some way.

As for what is is and how to do it, Goolge put together some basic vids on youtube. Check em out they're actually pretty well done for new and experienced users.

Google remarketing is marketing strategy targeting the users who are already visited your site.

Audience targeting is selecting the audience to whom the adwords should reach.

As stated above, remarketing stores cookies in your visitors browser so when an advertisement is possible to be shown, it will recall that the user has been to your website, hence displaying a relevant advertisement.
