Default New Home Based Business Start-Up Needs Help

Hello All-

Am I ever happy that I stumbled upon this website. I am in the process of starting up a home-based business, and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. I went to a "Passions Party" a few weeks ago, and thought it would be a great way for me to supplement my regular income. So, I moved forward and purchased their extensive product start-up kit. I think I'll be okay in terms of defining my business plan, marketing the business, and coordinating my day-to-day interactions. Where I need help is in the record-keeping arena.

I need to be able to effectively manage my sales, expenses, and profits. A streamlined way for me to keep track of my business mileage will be key as well. Is there any free-ware out there that can help me to do this? (I did find Microsoft Accounting Express 2007, but this looks like it is really geared towards ebay businesses.)

Thanks much!!

Hello Jana, and thanks for visiting our site!

I haven't used this particular software, but I did do some searching for you, and thought this may be a great place to start.

Congratulations and good luck to you in your "Passions" pusuit! They are fun and I hope this helps you!

Default Try Search Free Apps.com -- A New Search Engine

Congratulations on your new business.

Late last month we launched a new search engine that may help you. Search Free Apps includes over 600 hand-picked, valuable applications that are available Free on the Web. They encompass all kinds of services, and I know several involve record keeping.

Sometimes the free service are as good as, or better, than service that charge a fee.

Congratulations again and good luck.

Corey, I am / was a reseller of BK2007. I gave up selling it, it's just not quite up to the job.

I started selling the 2006 and found a few things lacking and got with the author who said things would be better in 2007. No changes.

Not that the books don't balance, but there are some everyday activities in real life that can't be done with BK2207.

A couplke off the top of my head.

You can't enter debit card purchases in the checking account without using the next check number. There is no way to have two sets of check numbers for the same account. No problem 10 years ago, not practical now. Are they supposed to tear up each check numbered teh same as a debit card entry?

There is no way to add shipping charges to a purchase order, even when you pay it. Many suppliers prepay shipping and add it to the bottom of their invoices, giving you one figure to pay. Can't do that with BK, you have to enter shipping as a seperate transaction.

Just little stuff, but I can't begin to tell you how many complaints I got from users, and I never offered support. I still heard form them, time after time. Never that it was "broke", just that it wouldn't do what you would expect even a $ 29,95 accounting program to do.
