For off page, in any e-commerce website, promotion through social media works the best.And for onpage, need some informative content for all the products added in the website.

On page SEO techniques:
  • Alt tags for all images
  • Anchor texts, internal linking structure
  • Header tags
  • Meta tags, meta descriptions
  • Title tags
  • Robots.txt
  • Sitemap creation
  • CSS & HTML errors correction
  • Page speed and responsive webdesigns
  • URL structure

This all are the points that you need to take care of while creating your website.

In off page activities:
  • Social media, social bookmarks
  • Web 2.0
  • Blog comments and Guest posting
  • Product and website listing
  • PPC

This all can help to promote your website.

on page seo means to tell customers and search engine about your products like meta tags, meta descriptions etc... and off page seo means to tell customers and search engines about your website like forum posting, blog commenting, directory submissions etc

I think this list is pretty accurate and full, but there are some other things you can do, for example you should collect user reviews and use breadcrumbs.

and we forgot the most important thing. write good descriptions, at least 100-150 words long. google is in love with text content, you should write a lot. and do not use the manufacturers descritpions since they probably used by the manufacturer, therefore your ddesc. will be a copy, what is a penalty for you. So gear up and write

Basically Ecommerce should be considered a slightly different beast in terms of SEO. Product vs service is already a huge difference, adding more to that there will be hell lots of pages on an Ecommerce website (usually), making it a bit harder to increase page value and keyword impact (anchor text) on a broader scale.

Blogs can also provide vital information that can help/encourage visitors to buy. The key is to showcase your product expertise instead of repeatedly speaking about your product. Remember blogs are not the place to sell; they are to build trust, reputation, traffic and network.
(Of-course this traffic and network can be encouraged later to buy).

Non SEO Factors: Apart from some key SEO factors, you will fare better if you think as a sales expert instead, it should be noted that all factors that increase sales should be improved such as providing descriptive stuffs, reviews and more to make it trust worthy in the eyes of visitors.
Encouraging reviews and social engagements are vital and make a huge difference in both SEO performance as well as sales.

Link Building: When you start build links, make sure you also include specific product pages (at least all important pages) to ensure you build a deep trust factor and link value to your entire website. Forum posting, directory submission and social media are some of the best places to build effective links for your eCommerce website.

Target industry specific forums and sites to ensure your links can bring in traffic and relevant link value back to your website.
