I love the idea of a print campaign leading to social media and landing pages - I have had some success with QR Codes and getting that instant response from mobile web users with print media.

It seems that most everyone here feels print marketing is best used when directing toward online marketing, so it's still just as important to care for your company's online presence no matter how high quality the printed ads are.

Technology is here to stay. Older methods can help to augment it but they can't really match it these days.

Printing advertisement is still useful and is in existence for various product promotions and providing information about services to the customers.

Print advertising is very much alive - just make sure you haggle for the best rates. Generally speaking, rates should be lower nowadays anyway, due to competition from web etc, and if exact timings / spaces aren't important to you, then you can also negotiate some real bargains.

Yes, I believe so and it is an effective way of advertising. With the rise of social media and other means of advertising online, we can't help but ask whether marketing a business this way is still effective. However, many business companies are still making use of print advertising and it has helped in ensuring awareness of business products and/or services.

Default Long Live Print Advertising!

Print – whether promotional or editorial in nature – has a tangibility that the web doesn’t. On a more personal scale, marrying the solidity of print to the convenience of the web strengthens both media. A reader may clip out the print photo of her daughter hitting a homerun in a state tournament to frame or stick on the refrigerator, and then share the online version with all her social media contacts. Everyone benefits.

I love print. I have had a lot of success using print style advertising...

But, print is certainly not what it use to be. Direct mail is actually
better than ever in many ways.

I'm currently working on a digital ad that goes in bathrooms (you've
likely seen them over urinals). Depending on what is being offered
and utilizing tools such as QR codes (so people can scan the code
on the ad and then they can access the website).

People talk too much about what doesn't work... most people don't
really know I find. All ads must be relevant & compelling to the reader.

You need good bait and a strong hook to catch them.

Some great answers here. It looks like we agree that print advertising is still very much alive, and most effective when integrated with other marketing methods.

This is quite an interesting thread and I am happy to see so many people still supporting print advertising and direct mailing campaigns. Last year our office conducted a book fair at Toronto to raise money for charity and we decided to use flyer distribution as a method of campaign. We printed flyers and distributed them, and let me tell you the turnout at the fair was more than what we expected.
