Default Any Way To Get Notified When A Website Goes Down?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a service / software package that monitors the uptime of a website and then notifies the webmaster if the site ever goes down?

I have been having some quality problems with one of my hosting providers...

If you have multiple servers have them check each other...than can be done with a simple perl script and cron job. If not, there are tons of places that do this...most offer a free version but limit it to 1 server and only like once every 60 minutes or something. Here are some I've used.

Default Site Monitoring Tool

I personally use Content Site Monitor. It has a really simple and cool web interface that allows you to view your siteís up-time statistics on a desktop or mobile screen. Itís easy to configure your monitoring parameters as well.

It doesn't just ping your server to make sure that it's alive. It allows you to specify certain content/keywords that you want to monitor. It will send you alert email if the content/keywords are missing from your site or if your site goes down.

Best of all, itís free to monitor up to 3 sites! It's a tool that I can't live without.

I was also looking for these kinds of software or tools from where i can get the updates about hosting problems because one of my website is taking too much time in loading that's why was upset about it.
