Default Block Incoming Link To My Blog?

Somehow my homeschooling blog has been put on kiddie porn site- I am getting a disturbing amount of traffic from their page ,

http://www.worthyseek.com/search/fre...s-preteen-boys

Is there a way to block this link ? Can I ban the IP?
Thanks,
Lisa

Lisa, don't sweat it. The same thing happened to me a few months ago. I received over 500 visits from porn sites one month, and then just like that it suddenly stopped.

I really don't know what happened, but I'm assuming, some nut job probably submitted my URL to a bunch of porn sites.

I suspect the same thing probably happened to you.

Someone more technical than I am can hopefully confirm this but I think it's as simple as adding the following line to your .htaccess file:

Deny from 000.000.000.00

(Of course, replace the zeros with the actual IP number)

I don't think blocking IPs could be helpful at all if the visitors are different.

If I visit your blog through the site, your site will list my IP instead of the offending site's IP.

Have you actually tried contacting the webmaster of that site to have the link removed? It probably won't help, but you never know...

Better still, report the offending site here: http://www.tinhat.com/children/report_pornography.html
and close them down.

An after thought: By generating threads like this, the offending site is gaining incoming links. Could it be amended so that it isn't a working link?

I'm not sure how to do it in PHP (which appears to be what you're using), but in asp it's easy enough.

In the global.asa file put something like...

Code:
Dim nolink, ref
nolink = "http://www._.com/_/free-pedo-pictures-about-young-underage-12-years-olds-preteen-boys"

ref = Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_REFERER")

If nolink = ref then Response.Redirect("http://www.fbi.gov/")
It's not perfect because many users have selected to block referrer information (specially those kind of sick [email protected]#$), but at least you will be able to do something about it.

If modifying PHP code is not an option, place mod_rewrite RewriteCond rules to check HTTP_REFERER variable.

Google for "mod_rewrite HTTP_REFERRER" (without the quotes) include results to pages which include snippet on how to do it.

I didn't go to the offending page to check since I'm at work right now, but is there actually a link to your site or is it just showing up in your stats? It may just be referrer spam.
