Default Need help in deciding what kind of business to start

Hi! All
I'm pretty new to this enterpreneuarial world. I want to start a software consultancy. For now I want to do body shopping untill I get some revenue and experience before I start building products and offering software services.

I've people who are willing to work for me. All I need is to start a legal company. But I don't know where to start. I don't know the kind of company I need to start. There are millions of types of companies out there. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Gandalf

Default OK here's a primer

Now this may hurt a bit but that's not my goal...my goal is to make sure you don't commit financial suicide. Here goes...

If you don't really understand how to start a business (the basics, as you've outlined here) you're chances of any success are incredibly slim...not impossible but highly, highly unlikely. If you didn't have the resolve to read up on starting a business (there are only a few thousand books about it) then you probably haven't created a business plan or a marketing plan or even chatted with an attorney.

This isn't to say you are a stupid or untalented person. I'm sure you are bright and talented. But business is serious...its not a place for someone who has visions of being Bill Gates today (billionaire, private jets etc.) when you'll doubtful get out of the starting blocks of a one man operation.

You've got a fair amount of work to do before your first day of business and a great deal of reading too. Good luck on that...I mean it
