Default Yahoo Site Explorer Is History - What Else Can I Use?

I got great value from yahoo site explorer and now it is no longer available.

What alternatives are there for checking on links of competitors websites?

Hi Hampers,

Have you tried using any of the widely available SEO tools for site / link dissection? Here are a few suggestions:

SEOBook Toolbar
SeoQuake Toolbar
SEOmoz Toolbar
Bruce Clay SEMToolbar

What types of link research are you trying to accomplish specifically?

None of those are ideal... anyone who used yahoo site explorer is very disappointed right now. Nothing seems to fit my needs right now, I've tried a few different things.

SEO spyglass is decent though.

You might also try Alexa and SEMrush. Of the two, SEMRush is better at identifying links. It also shows you the source and target URL. However, it will probably only be free while in BETA.

Neither identifies links as well as Yahoo did.

I guess it is just a matter of getting used to the new software and all the little quirks and tips to get the most from it.

True Yahoo site explorer is a big contribution for me, that 's why I'm very sad off taking this one off by Google.

Bing said that they integrated the features of the Yahoo! Site Explorer to their Webmaster Tools. Here's what they say: "With the completion of algorithmic transition to Bing, Yahoo! Search has merged Site Explorer into Bing Webmaster Tools. Webmasters should now be using the Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure that their websites continue to get high quality organic search traffic from Bing and Yahoo!."
