I like the idea of building a relevant author profile - as you can see when people have high numbers of comments and likes in DISQUS

It is good way to stop spamming. Moreover links on disqus are no follow so this has reduced the number of spam comments. Now only real time users are using blog comments. This is highly appreciated step for stopping spamming.

DisQUS is still good for getting people who take an interest in your comment to click on your link and see what you are all about - it is like immersing them in your personal branding.

Blog comments are obviously abused these past few years and usually used in their spamming activities just to expose their unrelated anchor text within the comment. This is why most of them are no follow that will not pass link juice. Traffic maybe.
