Default Quick Blogger Question...

I have a quick question about blogger.

I made changes to the HTML template of my blog. If I were to change the template, would I loose my edits?

Thanks.

It's been a while since I looked in Blogger (Personally, I prefer Wordpress) ... still, if you made edits to the HTML template and then changed the template, odds are you will lose those edits.
What specifically did you edit?

You will lose your edits but they are usually not too hard to reload again.

Default expand widget templates!

you do lose the edits, but you can download your existing template (with your changes) first. If you compare the new and the old in plain text editors, it's quite easy to see what needs copying or deleting in the new one.

Don't forget the 'expand widget templates' checkbox! There's nothing worse than hunting for something that's hidden.

I've used blogger lots and would like to hear of other people's successes. The lack of PHP is currently annoying me ...

Here at Windward we use TypePad and you can actually setup Microsoft Word to publish yours blogs for you. Once it is properly setup, all you have to do is open Word and create a New Blog. From there you can edit and post your blog freely. Dealing with web-based editors can be a real pain!

Yes, you will lose your previous changes to your old template. What I advice would be always save your old template locally in your harddrive before you do any changes.

If you are making changes to a Blogger blog then before you do, log into your account and click "customize"

From your tabs select "Layout" and then "Edit HTML", click "Expand Widget Templates" and then "Download Full Template", save that to your desktop or somewhere, make your changes and save

If there are problems with the template you have your original template available on your desktop to just put it back to how it was

Hope that helps

Nutty
