If you have a site built on Wordpress, you can install the Broken Link Checker plugin. Once installed, you can run a check to see what links are broken and have the option of fixing them, or deleting the links etc.

The plugin will also run regular automatic scans of your site and flag any links that have become broken.

One way of keeping on top of broken links to keep Google happy. Also remember, if your site is not user friendly due to broken links, your ranking will suffer too.
