Default Have You Considered Changing It Up?

“Change can be essential, but it should only be made with careful consideration and just cause. Losing can persuade you to change what doesn’t need to be changed, and winning can convince you everything is fine even if you are on the brink of disaster.” – Garry Kasparov

Sometimes, we do not see results and want to change something, but what? Maybe things seem to be going well, but perhaps you sense that your competition is getting the upper hand. What can you do?

As an owner or manager, what are some functions in your business you have considered changing and why?

I don't decide on doing drastic changes.. I investigate first if there is really a need for me to do that change...

Excellent point, Cindy. Observing current operations is always the first step to determining what could be improved!

Yes, because you cannot just change something without knowing what could possibly happen if you change something.. The change that is supposedly the solution might end up giving you more problems.

There is a lot of literature out there on Change Management. I do agree with the quote that you cited. But also remember that change can happen in so many forms. It can be a change in your services, a change in your management style, a change in company culture, a change in target audience or so many other things. Change should always be researched and looking at what your competitors are doing is always a good idea. But more than that you really need to analyse what is happening within your company and finding your strengths and weaknesses and working to strengthen both of them. I think it's also helpful to have someone external analyse the company too to offer a fresh set of eyes and ideas.

Those are just some of the things you should consider before changing something.

Good points! A SWOT analysis is a great place to start.
