Default Major Decision, Help Me Make The Right Choice.

When I purchased www.coachgary911. The url I really wanted, coachgary.com, was not available, so I choose coachgary911.com. My website coachgary911.com has only been on published for 3 weeks I have been pretty active in promoting it. But, my problem is I have written a book (ebook) that has a lot of urls from coachgary911.com in the book, and I think I have articles that have been used on other website and ezines. Now, I have only been doing this for 3 weeks, so it’s not that long.

Now, just last night coachgary.com became available so I bought it. I must decide on what to do. Do I keep both sites so my links will stay active? Now I am confused and don’t want to make the wrong decision. I have big plans with multiple books and articles already in the works. I am going to start a blog anyway, so I was thinking I would set up my blog on the coachgary.com domain and use the menus on the blog to link back to www.coachgary911.com. This way my urls stay good. But, a friend of mine told me to “cut bait” and move everything to the coachgary.com now I trust his opinion, but I really want to do my research before I decide on what to do.

What is the pros and cons to have my blog with coachgary.com and have coachgary911.com to house my resource center. My site is a Joomla CRM and I have not started my blog yet, just incase that matters.

Please help me,

I would use the coachgary for your website and redirect coachgary911 to that URL so that your print stuff won't lose anyone. I looked at your stats and inlinks for 911 and you won't suffer any real negative effects making the switch.

Move everything to coachgary.com and 301 redirect each page from coachgary911.com to their new place at coachgary.com. This ensures that anybody visiting the 911 links still gets directed to the right page(s). Change everything you can for the future and promote the heck out of coachgary.com

Default Coach Garry conundrum

CoachGary.com is the better domain, so I would move everything over to this domain, blog resources and all.

Joomla is fantastic for organising all your rich content, and content is king. Make Coachgary.com as juicy as possible. Consider using coachgary911.com as a simple "sister" site set up as a directory that you could use for triangular link swaps.

Make sure all your redirects are proper 301 redirects, and check that your server is set up to serve the correct 404 headers if you miss any content. Joomla can mess this up, particularly if you are using search engine friendly URL extensions.

Default Ok Guy, I need additional help……

I have decided to move everything to Coachgary.com and do the redirect thing also…… Now I have questions about what is the best way to handle the set-up.

What I thinking about doing is using Wordpress as my blog backend. My Blog it will act as my home page, and will house my blog entries ect….. The rest of my information will be housed using joomla, the same thing I have now set up. Both will be on Coachgary.com. Can I do this? And is this the best way? Joomla offers blogging components so, I could keep it all on joomla, but I really like the idea of using wordpress, I think they have their act together. .

Yes, you can setup and use both wordpress and joomla within the same site/domain. One site/domain can have multiple databases, etc.

Seems like a good plan to me, I agree it regarding wordpress.
