One of the most important considerations when creating PPC ads is keyword-dense copy strategies. To ensure that your ads receive targeted views and leads, clear copy and targeted keywords must ground your strategy. PPC executed incorrectly can result in wasted advertising dollars and will fail to improve destination traffic.

Default Keywords are . . . key

There's a great free keyword tool on Google Adwords that is really helpful when trying to pick the best keywords for your campaign.

If you're a pro this is old news but for beginners it can be a big help!

Yes, this is a great tool. But Adwords beginners should be very careful with it.

One of the most common mistake I have to fix when managing a new Adwords account is way too many semi relevant keywords thrown into random ad groups.

(The other is lack of negative keywords... which can easily eat up half your daily budget on non relevant clicks)

The best place for beginners to start is to choose keywords that are "phrases that your best customer would type in if he was actively searching for what you sell" and grow out from there.

Terrific points, Rob. Especially the use of negative keywords to really tighten up your results. One problem I run into again and again is the client looking to "be found" for terms they want, instead of looking at the data and seeing what their clients are searching for. AdWords gives you a great resource to see how many searches are done per term, both globally and in the country that they are in.
