Default Understanding How Spammers Work Can Save You Time And Reduce The Spam You Get

Here is one on how spammers work.

"What we have to understand is that email marketing is by far the most effective way to promote products and services on the internet today. The basis of this system it to collect as many email addresses as you can and repeatedly send email messages out to them. There is a legitimate way to do this and then there is the way spammers do it."

Default Have you ever bought from a spammer?

I'm seriously just wondering if anybody here has ever bought from a spammer? Personally, I can't imagine doing so, which leaves me wondering how they make money?

I have never and would never buy from a spammer, but it's a brute force method of making sales that, even at an insignificant response rate, results in a profit.

If you send out 10 Million emails and only make a sale to .0001 of those people, that's still 1000 sales (if my math is correct).

1000 sales of even a low ticket item will add up quickly.

Unfortunately you can find someone to buy anything no matter how sleazy the sales method.

[Added: It brings to mind people that will buy watches, TVs, etc, even when they know it's stolen property.]

Spammers are able to keep their costs very low - usually by stealing bandwidth from others, or by sending their mail through servers that they are not authorized to use.

Also, they really aren't interested in creating and maintaining a brand, or a long-term relationship with customers - that would cost them more money. They just want the quick hit, to grab the money and run (often because what they are selling is illegal, or they're running a scam).

It's just like Robert says: with that kind of low cost structure, any kind of response at all is almost pure margin.
