Debunking Six Social Media Myths

Using social media to market your business is a good idea. Just don't plan on getting your whiz-kid nephew to do it for free

By B.L. Ochman
Technology

For companies, resistance to social media is futile. Millions of people are creating content for the social Web. Your competitors are already there. Your customers have been there for a long time. If your business isn't putting itself out there, it ought to be.

But before you take the plunge, bear in mind the many myths that surround social media...

Great article.I have to add that so many people make the mistake of doing marketing on the social media sites and get banned.By submitting other peoples good content to the sites and sharing good info you will do much better. The people who you helped, will help you in return.

Informative article, thanks for sharing.

The author brings up a good point about social media not being free:

"However, integrating these tools into a corporate marketing program requires skill, time, and money."

You also need to leave yourself time to make a few mistakes, because it's a learning experience -- it's not like you can read it from a manual and then you are good to go. You need to learn a few things by doing them wrong first. And that takes time, and energy.

wow, I'd never thought that someone reached 56 thousand followers, I wonder what campaign he used to achieve that huge number, it will surely be a big blast every time he twits.
